Running Startups is a friendly social running club hosting weekly runs in London for founders who are prepared to go the extra mile.

Running is more than simply exercise to improve cardiovascular health. For many it can be the spark for immense personal growth.

At Running Startups, we run to ease the mind and to connect with the body, a meditative experience that can help you think more clearly, boost mental stamina, and increase your performance.

My first 50km ultramarathon

I’m a huge advocate for fitness, and especially long distance running. I think if you don’t have a strong body you don’t have a strong mind, and it becomes harder to operate at your best in both brain power and emotional intelligence.

And this is why I believe being a strong runner and a successful founder have a lot in common.

There are many traits that make a great founder: creativity, emotional stability, good self-esteem, the ability to handle stress, work ethic, the ability to learn and adapt, and more.

And successfully running and scaling a business is kind of like running long distances: both require diligence, commitment, work ethic and planning.

To run long distances teaches you endurance and perseverance... it helps develop the physical and mental stamina required to handle the long hours and daily demands of being a founder.

A founder is both leader and figurehead at their startup, and your behaviour as a founder has the capacity to ripple down through a company’s strata.
